Trying out for a new Under 11 Team
If my child is currently on a U10 team, do we have to come to try-outs
Yes. Every player that wants to play competitive under 11 soccer at SA United must attend tryouts.
Can my child play up if they are going to be under 10 in the fall of 2009?
Yes. If you would like your child to play up in the under 11 bracket, please attend the under 11 try-out.
Please note that the number of play ups on under 11 teams is limited by league rules.
Can under 9 players play up?
No. Players that are going to be under 9 in the fall 2009 season are not allowed to play up two years.
What do I bring to tryouts?
Please bring water, shin guards and a soccer ball.

The Tryout Process
Players are required to arrive on time for the tryouts, on-site registration will begin 45 minutes before the tryout
start date. To save time, please complete the online registration form. On the first day, each player will be given a numbered card to pin to their shirt. The trainers will have a list of players’ names and numbers. Each player should wear the same number for both tryout sessions. Players will be required to check in for the 2nd day of tryouts
How do I know if my player made the team?
Following the tryouts, the trainers will meet to discuss the individual players. The trainers will
decide which players will be assigned to which teams. All new players that have been successful in making a team will be called. Player numbers will also be posted on the club website within 24 hours of the final try out. Returning players will be called or emailed. Offers will be made within 24 hours of the final try out.
If my player is selected for a team, what do I need to do next?
Turn in your commitment form to claim your spot. The commitment form will be available
on the website. Your spot is not secured until we receive the commitment form and your non refundable deposit.

Will all the teams have trainers?
Every team has a trainer. SA United employs the professional trainers of World Wide Soccer.
Who will manage our team?
Each team will have a parent manager. The manager will be the point of contact for the team and will help the players and parents with all registrations, tournaments, communications etc. If you are interested in becoming a team manager, please contact Jay Sparrow at jay.sparrow@saunitedsoccer.com
Where will we train?
SA United has use of McAllister Park, Howard Elementary, Olmos Basin and the North NEYSO Complex.
The majority of our teams will train at McAllister Park in the fall 2009 season. Please check our
website for training times and locations.
How many times a week do we train and how long are the sessions?
U11-U18 teams will train twice for one hour and a half. There will also be additional free sessions for goalkeepers taking place on Friday evenings.
What will my child wear to practice?
All players are required to wear their SA United training T-shirt, shin guards and cleats to practice.
Where are home games played?
Home games are played at NEYSO North, Specht Road, Soccer International and occasionally at McAllister Park for under 11 8v8 teams. Maps and directions can be found at www.neyso.org or the club website.
Will there be much travel involved?
Division 2 games are within San Antonio and surrounding areas. Super II and Division 1
involve some travel to Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville and Corpus Christi.
Is my child guaranteed playing time? 
Super 2 and division 2 players must play a minimum of 50% every game. Division 1 teams
have no minimum requirements; however, we encourage our trainers and coaches to play each
player 50% of every game when possible.
What is expected from parents?
Parents are expected to be parents and not coaches. Parents should support their players in an
encouraging and appropriate manner. They should make sure their player is at practices, games
and tournaments on time.
Cost and Uniform
How much does it cost to play for SA United?
When signing with SA United you are committing to the fall and spring season. We are committed
to providing the best services at a competitive price. SA United requires a non-refundable fee to
secure your roster spot. Prices will be similar to last season. We are currently working on our fall
2009 and spring 2010 budget. More information coming soon.
Can I receive financial aid?
SA United budgets to provide financial support for those players who need assistance. Scholarships are 
available based upon need. A completed scholarship application form along with a 2007 tax
return is required. Please contact Gary Beadle on 210 310 5184 for further information.
I am new to the club. When are the uniform try on dates?
The Saturday following each tryout, players and parents will be required to attend a 'sign up for SA united
session' At this session you will need to provide your commitment form, deposit, uniform order form and a copy
of your birth certificate (new players only). Location and times will be posted soon.
How much do uniforms cost?
The total cost of the uniform for new U11 players will be $225. For returning U11 - U18 players this fee will be
slightly lower as you will not be required to purchase the bag and practice shirts again.
Are we using last year’s uniforms?
No. SA United changes uniforms every two years and we will now be entering into a new two year cycle. All
players, old and new will be required to purchase the new uniform.
