THE DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM
The SA United Developmental program is available to all U8/U9 and U10 players who are looking for advanced
training by professional coaches. The SA United Developmental program is designed for players
looking to enhance their soccer skills by enrolling in a program that works to improve their skill
development by using more advanced levels of training and play. The program focuses on individual
technical skills as well as introducing players to small sided conditioned games. Players will develop their skills while training in a team environment and will have the chance to play 6v6 soccer games against other
developmental teams throughout San Antonio. Home games are played at McAllister Park. Please note that the
developmental program is not select soccer and anyone interested in playing can sign up.
The aim of the SA United Developmental program is purely on helping our young players develop their
skills, techniques, knowledge and love for the game. The program provides the opportunity for players to
‘move’ away from the recreational scene and continue their passion for the sport whilst receiving
professional training. Players will train twice a week with our qualified and experienced trainers provided by
World Wide Soccer. Games are also coached by the World Wide Soccer trainers. There are no
try outs, and 50% play per game is enforced.
DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRESS
The Developmental program was formed in the fall of 2007 with the aim of helping players prepare for
competitive soccer. The program started with 3 teams and now has 6 teams heading into the fall 2009
season. The program continues to develop and we are dedicated to making this the best program in
San Antonio where our players can learn and develop in a family atmosphere. As we say goodbye to our under
10 teams moving up to under 11, we will be adding new teams and more opportunities for players in the fall of
2009.
PLAYING WITH HIGH STANDARDS
SA United Soccer Club is a professionally run select soccer club and strives to develop the committed player.
Although the Developmental Program is deemed as a feeder to the club, we expect a high level of commitment
from not only the player but also their parent(s). SA United Soccer Club expects players to attend 2 training
sessions per week and all weekend games. If you cannot make a practice or a game, please contact your
trainer in advance. Proper training attire will be required for all training sessions and matches including a size 4
soccer ball, shin guards and a water bottle.
DEVELOPMENTAL FEES
The amount due for the Fall 2009 season is $395 per player. This amount covers training fees and
uniform fees for the season. Included in this price is the $85 NEYSO registration fee. This fee applies to
all SA United players and covers the costs associated with practice and game fields, league registration
fees, referees, coaches clinics and STYSA insurance. You can pay by check or set up a monthly
payment plan with the club. You will need to submit payment with the player information form found on this
page. For further information on how to set up a payment plan, please contact
UNIFORMS
All players must purchase a uniform package consisting of one jersey, one pair of game shorts and one
SA United practice T-shirt. To purchase your uniform, you will need to complete the uniform sheet
found on this page and mail to Craig Vacek. The uniform fee is included in the SA United Academy
TRAINING STAFF
The SA United Developmental Director and Director of Coaching will be responsible for assigning coaches to all
teams. Each team will be assigned a trainer/coach and parent manager. The parent manager is responsible
for communication between staff, players and parents. The Developmental Director will monitor teams and
occasionally run a training session with each team. All SA United training staff are required to be licensed
through either the NSCAA or USSF.
TRAINING FORMAT
Developmental training takes place twice a week. Depending on what team the player is placed on will determine
what days practice will be. The program has two slots allocated, Monday and Wednesday's 5.30pm - 7.00pm
or Tuesday and Thursday's 5.30pm - 7.00pm at McAllister Park. The SA United coaching staff will teach and
develop the players to improve technically and help them with their ability to play the game. Coaching staff
will follow a curriculum designed by the Developmental Director and approved by STYSA. Training will incorporate
skill development as well as introducing players to conditioned games and small sided games. Training is
designed to maximize individual touches on the ball and individual skill development.
Thank you for your continued help and support in making our Developmental Program one of the best in
San Antonio. Our program continues to grow and we look forward to working with you all again in
